Clare County Trail Walks

In 2017, Friends hosted walks to introduce individuals and families to three local trails, including one that is barrier free! These walks were free, leisurely, family-friendly and lasted about an hour, except for the barrier-free walk that was shorter and took less time.

Clare County Parks & Recreation offered two free walks at Neithercut Woodlands on Saturday, July 8. Meeting at the parking lot at 4105 Cadillac Dr. (M-115), located 3 miles north of Farwell.
Neithercut Woodlands is owned by Central Michigan University and is located at 4105 Cadillac Dr. (M-115), 3 miles north of Farwell. Look for the CMU sign on the south side of the road.

Neithercut Woods (CMU) Saturday, July 8.
Barrier-free walk along a paved path and boardwalk is at 10 a.m. Approximately a 1/4 mile walk along a paved path and boardwalk over wetlands. This is one of very few barrier-free trails in the area and is little known.
A Woodlands Walk was at 11 a.m. Rolling trail that crosses a variety of habitats.
A hat is suggested for both walks as it may be warm and sunny and deer flies are buzzing earlier in the week. Sturdy shoes are suggested for the Woodlands Walk.
Boardwalk on Neithercut Woods Trail Neithercut Trail Walk

Green Pines Pathway. Sat., Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. Path crossed lakes, woodlands and wetlands. Parking is in lot off M-115 north of the Lake Station Rd.

More information will be posted here and on our Facebook page as the date of future walks approach. Walks will be cancelled in the event of rain. Contact Marty at 734-755-2638.
